- The Essex Rock & Mineral Society was founded by Rowley Collier, in February 1967 – we have now been around for over 50 years
- It is a largely amateur society for those who always want to know more about this world.
- We cater for all ages, all levels of knowledge, all interests in geology
- We are affiliated to the Geologists’ Association (G.A.) and associated with GeoEssex and the Essex Field Club
- We are an unincorporated society, guided by an elected committee
- We have a written constitution and data privacy policy
- Every year, we publish an Annual Report and the minutes of our Annual General Meeting
